Television programs that teach reading and amp; Literacy

The 3D animation series WORDWORLD contains letters in the characters and animation to help children understand that letters make sounds and, when combined, spell words. The comic plots center around Word Friends - sheep, frog, duck, pork, Ant, and the dog. The animals are like the letters that form the shape of the body drawn, for example, so that the children the word "dog" as a dog. In each episode of WORDWORLD that help friends with daily problems they solve by others and to cope with their words "build a verbal dexterity." Children look look at the letters of a word closely and the object is the word, to help children to understand the connection between letters, sounds and words. (PBS) More info »
